Christ the Redeemer statue is undoubtedly the biggest icon Rio de Janeiro can be proud of. Of course, the best tourism activity in the world is the Mardi Gras season but beyond Mardi Gras, there’s actually more that this Portuguese-speaking country can offer.


Admittedly, Rio is often portrayed in movies as a slum. But actually, there are still lots of sights and tastes that Brazil can offer. One of the staples in Brazil is fejioada which is a stew of beans and pork. For backpackers who will be spending a weekend soiree in Brazil, this is one meal which you shouldn’t miss because this is what is called energy food.


One thing that I like about Brazil is that their national alchoholic beverage is cachaca which can also be a substitute for choco during breakfast. Wow, ain’t that yummy?
Acai Berries BowlBut if you want a dish that is really exotic, then try anything that is made from acai. Acai can only be found in the Amazon so if you want to taste what the natives of this beautiful rainforest are eating, then taste this particular kind of food.
Another delicious food is the Vatapa which is curried shrimp. It is really yummy. Try it.
