Going to Cairo is akin to going to prehistoric times. The city is pretty rich in history and modern Cairo is as equally fascinating as the Cairo of old. In fact, it is called the Triumphant City and arguably, it is one of the longest cities in the world.


Although the famed Giza Pyramids are not located here, Cairo is the international gateway to Giza. Thus, each tourist must pass and stay for the night here somehow. For that, Cairo boasts itself of quite a number of five-star hotels such as the Marriott.


It is also interesting to note that modern Cairo architecture quite blend in with old architecture as the government has excellently preserved old architectural sights and make them as heritage sites. Some of these are museums, churches, tombs and old temples.


Because Cairo is somehow a nostalgic city, this is not a place to look forward dancing into club music such as those found in Ibiza. On the contrary, the more popular art forms here are opera, art exhibits in galleries and orchestra concerts in music halls, among others. This is also where people from the East parade their wares. This is where you’ll see a little glimpse of Asia.
